Jack Fields |
Jack Fields started playing guitar in high school punk, surf and hard rock bands. His early influences include The Sex Pistols, The Ventures , Rush and Johnny Cash. Later musical influences include Charlie Christian and T-bone Walker. Jack began his study of Jazz Manouche in the early 1990's. By the mid-nineties, he was fully immersed in the style, to the chagrin of all of his other musician friends who were still playing rock and blues. Jack acquired his first Selmer style guitar in 1999, a beautiful Dupont Md-50 oval hole. His other gypsy guitars include Two wonderful Favinos, and the Dupont D-hole used in the Woody allen film "Sweet and Lowdown". Jack endorses Argentine strings and Raezer's Edge cabinets.. Jack has performed with Larry Coryell, Bruce Forman, Howard Alden, Andreas Oberg, Mimi Fox , Simon Planting, and many others. An avid guitar collector, Jack also owns several Gibson, Fender and Martin guitars and a few old tube amps. Jack's fondest gypsy jazz memories include a trip to the Django Reinhardt Festival in Samois, France, in 1999 and more recently, getting to play with Bruce Forman at Djangofest Mill Valley 2006, Mimi Fox at Djangofest Mill Valley 2007 and Larry Coryell at Djangofest Northwest 2007. |
